COMBINED SUNDAY SCHOOL
WAIKATO COMMITTEE’S MEETING. REPRESENTATIVE GATHERING. Clergymen, Sunday school superintendents and Bible class leaders of Hamilton were represented at a meet-, ing of the Waikato Combined Sunday Sohools Committee held in Hamilton on Saturday evening when a roundtable discussion on ‘“Decision Day in the Sunday School and Bible Glass,’-’ was introduced by the Rev. S. J. Atkins, Minister of First Church, Frankton. The meeting was joined by Sunday school teaohers and members of Bible classes later in the evening, and Mr T. H. Pearson, chairman of the Combined Sunday Schools’ Com- ■ mittee, in welcoming the bodies represented, outlined the aims and objects of the committee, stressing that it was endeavouring to assist youth work in the churches. A roll-call followed, twelve denominations responding. “Opportunity for Service” formed the subject of an address by Major Liddell, of the Salvation Army. Items were given by Mrs Burnett and Miss L. ClarkCHILDRENS’ RALLY. OVER 500 PARTICIPATE. Lead by the Salvation Army Band, over 500 children and their parents marched from the Hamilton Post Office yesterday afternoon to St. Paul’s Methodist Church, London Street, for the annual rally of the Waikato Combined Sunday Schools’ Committee. At the servies which* followed the Mayor, Mr J. R. Fow, who presided, remarked on the particularly fine attendance. lie then presented the books and shield won at 'he Waikato Winter Show to members of the St. Paul’s Sunday School. Singing was lead by the Rev. G. C. Reay and the roll call was responded to by practically all the schools in Hamilton. About 60 Maori children from Whatawhata, Frankton, Tauvvhare. Ngaruawahia and llorotiu were present under the charge of Sister ; Nicholls, of the Methodist Maori Mission, and a feature ol' the service >vas ; the singing of choruses by these 1 children. The speaker for the after- * noon, Dr. C J Rolls, of Auckland, gave instances of the value of youth i consecration to the service of God.
