POLAR EXPLORATION.

EXPEDITION TO ARCTIO. SIR HUBERT WILKINS’ PLANS. TO START IN MAY. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. NEW YORK, July 31. Sir Hubert Wilkins arrived in New York to-day. He announced further details of his Arctic submarine. This will cost 125,000 dollars to build and an extra 25,000 for its operation. The submarine will be 75ft. long and l ift in diameter. Sir Hubert proposes to start from Spltzbergen Svalbard) next May. Possibly he will make a cruise of 2200 miles beneath the ice toward Alaska. He is conflcTent that with an electric drill he will be able to cut holes In the ice, through which an observer can come to the surface from the submarine.
