MILD JULY.
RAINFALL BELOW AVERAGE. WEATHER IN HAMILTON. A complete contrast is provided by the weather experienced last month as compared with the same month of 1936. July of last year was remarkable for several heavy falls of rain and a number of severe frosts, while in the' current year the rainfall has been vvell below the average and the frosts comparatively light. On twelve occasions frosts were recorded in the Waikato during the month just ended but although there was a registration of 11 degrees on July 8. the majority of the frosts were light and on several days there was little evidence of the frost. The heaviest recording In 1936 was 15 degree's but reading up to 10 degrees were not uncommon In the 11 frosts of that month. Despite frequent falls the total rainfall for the past month, 3.57!n., is well below the average for July of 4.831 n., and almost a 50 per cent smaller recording than in July, 1936. wheYi several torrential downpours brought the total to 6.49in. To date 27.55in. have been recorded for the year which, taken throughout, has been unseasonable but mild.
