BIRTHDAY DANCE.

GIRLS’ FRIENDLY SOCIETY. EVENING AT CAMBRIDGE. Two years ago a branch of the Girls’ Friendly Society was formed in Cambridge and to celebruto their second birthday the members organised a carnival dance in the Parish Hall recently. Attractive decorations in pink and while floral effects with masses of greenery and pink streamers, novelty dances, and music played by Clayton’s Orchestra, combined to create an air of gaiety throughout the evening. A feature of the function was the cutting of a large birthday cake made by Mrs. Hensan and Iced by Mrs. W. Stuart. The president of the Soolety, Mrs C. W. Chandler, performed this ceremony, after which the Rev. Lloyd Francis gave a short address. Mr. Johnson was M.C. and Mr. F. Morris played extras. A novelty dance was won by Miss June Petersen and partner and Miss Barbara Gane and partner were the winners of a spot waltz. Members of the ladies’ committee were:— Mrs. C. W.
