ITALY’S GOODWILL.
APPRECIATION IN BRITAIN. FORMER INTERPRETER FREED. (Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 29. The decision of the Italian Government to free Tafara Werk, an Abyssinian who formerly was employed as interpreter at the British Legation and Consulate-General in Addis Ababa, was announced in the House of Commons by the Foreign Minister, Mr Eden. The Minister explained that Work's functions never entitled him to enjoy a privileged position, and the British Government, although it made representations in Rome, had no locus standi on his behalf. Mr Eden added: “The' British Government. appreciates the goodwill of Ihe Italian Government and the personal interest which, I understand, the head of the Italian Government has shown in this matter.”
