Mr Len Barnes, formerly prominent in musical circles in Auckland, has taken up residence in Christchurch.

The Hon. E. Dye, M.L.C., was at last night’s meeting of the Waihi Borough Council elected to the seat on the council rendered vacant by the recent resignation of a member.

The election of officers of the Sheepowners’ Federation resulted as follows: —President, Mr. 11. D. Acland (Christchurch); vice-president, Mr. J. S. Jessop (Wairoa) ; treasurer, Mr. E. Hay (Canterbury). Sir Glutha Mackenzie' and his son, Mr A. B. Mackenzie, who returned by the Rangltata from England on Wednesday, were passengers by the limited express from Wellington to Auckland yesterday morning. Messrs C. H. M. Sorensen (Taranaki) and W. E. Barber (Manawatu), were re-elected unopposed to the directorate of the New Zealand Cooperative Pig Marketing Association at the annual meeting of the association in Hamilton to-day. Sergeant G. L. A. Saunders, who has been chief clerk for the Hamilton police district for the past 17 years, has received notification of his transfer to assist the senior-sergeant at Wellington. He expects to leave next week. Mr F. G. Stevenson’s services as secretary and treasurer for 25 years of the Invercargill Bowling Club were recognised by members at a social gathering. Mr Stevenson was presented with a leather bowl bag and a case of pipes. Messrs L. B. Scottson (Christchurch), J. Barlow (Kopaki), J. Crawford, D. G. Begg, D. R. Wallace, W. Johnston, J. M. llyams, A. R. E. Messenger, J. L. Phillips, C. Harwood and H. C. Firth (Auckland) are at the Hamilton Hotel.
