PREMIUM FOR CHEESE.
ADDITIONAL PAYMENT. GOVERNMENT TO CONSIDER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DANNEVIRKE, Thursday. “In regard to the suggestion for a further payment on the past season’s cheese,” says the Hon. \V. Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, in a letter to the secretary of a local dairy company which made representations to the Minister, ‘T can only say that very full representations have been made to the Government to the effect that a further payment be made to bring the average butterfat payment made by cheese manufacturing companies up to such a figure as will represent a premium of lid per lb butterfat above ihe average butterfat price paid out by butter manufacturing companies and that full and careful consideration will be given to this matter by Cabinet.
“It Is, of course, too soon yet to say what margin above the' butter payout the average cheese company wlil show. The Government appreciates the difficulty of cheese manufacturing companies, particularly small companies, and lias already agreed that the price differential for next season shall be 2d per lb butterfat. It is considered an increase of a halfpenny per lb butterfat in the terially.’
