PEDIGREE PIG STUD. * WOLLONGBAR BANKER AT 20GNS. ! A large and representative bench of buyers was in attendance at the complete dispersal of Messrs. Burwen Limit ed, pedigree pig stud, at Te Rapa, to- ; day. Both the Tamworth and Berkshire sections represented some of the i best imported blood in the Dominion. ■ Wollongbar Banker (Whittingham 1 Red Start-Wollongbar Starbright), unbeaten in the show ring last year and a Sydney Royal Show winner, attracted chief interest, during the early sale and this outstanding boar was eventually knocked down to Mr. J. K. ; McArthur, of Tuakau, for 20gns. 1-n the Berkshire section the champion sow, Westown Juanita 11., a prolific breeder and frequent prize-win-ner in the show ring, was sold, to ttie well-known Ilorotiu breeder, Mr. G Jamieson, for 11 igns. Among ttie boars the 1937 Royal Show‘reserve champion, Dominion Fashions Reo 1., went lo Mr. Clark, Rangataiki, for 1 2gns. A steady market was maintained throughout the sale and ttie entry ot I Rerkshires averaged 6igns. for the I sows and 9gns. for boars. For the early lot of Tamworths consistently j good prices were obtained, maiden | sows selling from 6»i to iftgns. and ' sows with litters from 9gns. to 15gns. The latter figure was obtained for Burwen Gloaming 1., a daugntcr of Wollongbar Ranker. The sale was conducted by the Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company. Limited. Later in the afternoon, one of the highest prices paid at a pedigree fixture for some time was realised when Ihe outstanding matron. Burwen Nancy IT. ■ Rlvthewood Myrtle Duke—Bur- ! leigh Choice) was sold to Mr. A. Swanee. of Whatawhata, after strong competition, for 4llgns.
