VOTING POWERS.
AGRICULTURAL SOCIETIES. FRANKLIN PROTEST SUPPORTED. In connection with the voting power's of Agricultural and Pastoral Associations under the constitution of the Royal Agricultural Society, a letter was j received from the secretary of the Franklin branch at a meeting of the Waikato executive to-day, stating that he had written to the Royal Agricultural Society protesting against the in- . adequacy of representation of Agricultural and Pastoral Associations under the present allocation of voting , powers. Mr R. A. Hinton presided. It was considered that the Royal Society, having taken over the functions of the conference of Agricultural and Pastoral Associations of the North Island, should give greater consideration to the Agricultural and Pastoral I Associations. They strongly re- ! affirmed their remit to the 1936 annual ; conference, to the effect that voting j power be on a basis proportional to subscriptions paid.
The Franklin Association felt that !t would have to reconsider seriously the question of its membership to the Royal Society if Agricultural and Pastoral Associations did not receive adequate representation. It was thought that the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Associations might be in accord with the protest.
it was decided to support .the Franklin Society and the secretary, Mr W. L. Ranstead, was directed to write lo the Royal Society in similar terms.
