TRADE WITH PANAMA.
PROSPECT OF EXTENSION. HON. W. NASH'S MISSION. (liy Telegraph.—Press Association.) \YELLINGTON, Tuesday. There are good prospects ol increased New Zealand trade with the Panama Republic. This is disclosed 1 in a cable message received to-day bj Ihe acting-Prime Minister, I lie Hon. p Fraser, from the Minister of Finance. the Hon. W. Nash, who, after visiting Ottawa and Washington, took passage in the Mataroa at Panama for Wellington. ‘•Uur butter has a splendid reputation,” Mr Nash reports, ’’and is in 'excellent demand, and the Panama market may later take more meat, fruit and other foodstuffs.” During a brief visit to Balboa, Panama City, Cristobal and Colon, Mr Nash discussed trade relations with the President of the Panama Republic. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Trade and •Commerce, and trade merchants who handle New Zealand produce. Mr Nash also had two conferences with Hie Governor of the Canal Zone and buying officials and discussed Hie promotion of New Zealand trade. They also investigated ihe possibilities of extending purchases of butter, meal, apples and other products.
The Minister, whose time at Panama was limited and fully occupied, says that the visit should result In increased trade. Detailed reports will be available later.
