ARIA DAIRYING.
COMPANY’S GOOD SEASON. SHAREHOLDERS MEETING (Special to Times.) TE KU.ITI, Tuesday. An attendance of Some 60 shareholders was present at the annual meeting of the Aria Co-operative Dairy Company. The chairman, Mr J. Collins, <said that the increased costs during the year amounted to .638 of id per lb of butterfat. The cost of boxes was £l9l 5s 4d more than last year, even though the output was ten tons less. Wages and salaries for the same number of men had increased by £IS7 7s. A deputation .representing Mokau, Piopio, and Aria factories had waited on the Hon. Lee Martin recently in Hamilton when a good hearing was obtained. Mr Martin remarked that the small factory In the backblocks was a necessity and deserved help. There was a chance of getting better treatment for the coming season. The quality of the butter for the past season was very satisfactory, the factory having gained the premium of Is 2d per owt. on about one-third of the output and had won the King George Challenge Cup awarded to the best box of export butter. The finance of the company had improved during the 'Tar, the liability having been reduced u?y £4500 Is 2d. Messrs C. J. Riddle and Mr P. D. Smyth congratulated the directors on the year’s progress. Messrs J. A. Thomson, G. Prowse, and Harvey Riddell were elected to the three vacancies on the board of directors and Mr James Collins was re-elected chairman. The manager and staff were i heartily congratulated on the success ■ of the past season.
