DOMESTIC’S THEFTS.
SHOPLIFTING ADMITTED. AN ALLEGATION DENIED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Wednesday. Arrested in Wellington on July 17, Hazel Margaret Howard (20), appeared before Mr W. R. McKean, S.M., on four charges of theft from Auckland shops. She pleaded guilty to stealing a fur coat, hats, frock and a coat valued at £4l. The police said the girl was a domestic from the South Island. It was alleged she frequented hotels and Chinese premises. The girl made a statement from ihe dock, denying the allegation that she frequented Chinese premises. Replying to Ihe magistrate, Detec-tive-Sergeant Walsh said he could bring evidence to support ihe allegation. The police said the girl had done a term of twelve months’ in Borstal. On one charge Mr McKean ordered rielention for twelve months in Borstal, and on the oilier charges she was convicted and discharged.
