SPECIAL SUBSIDY WORK.
SEWERAGE AND FOOTWAYS. BOROUGH COUNCIL’S DECISION. It was decided at tho meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council last evening, on the recommendation of the Works Committee, that the employment promotion subsidies offered bv the actipgMinister of Labour, the lion. P. c. Webb, should he utilised to carry out extensions to the Maeroa area sewage reticulation and tho construction and sealing or asphalt footways in various parts of the borough. It was also decided, on Hie recommendation or the- committee, that the council should make arrangements to provide an additional £9OO, which with the estimate* subsidy of £’,r>o] will he allocated for kerbing, grading’ metalling and asphalting of the carriageways at the Hamilton East down in lawn hi' the area between tho two entrances. The sewer work is estimated to cost the council £SOO and will be financed from the unexpended balance of the Maeroa Sewer and Water Loan \ccount. The footway work is estimated to cost the council £I4OO, and will be financed from the Permanent Works Item.
