CURTAIN-RAISER MATCHES
WAIPA DEFEAT CAMBRIDGE. The second curtain-raiser, the Clark Cup knock-out, between Waipa and Cambridge Juniors, was played on the No. 3 field instead of the main ground. Cambridge maintained the early advantage but Waipa returned play with good dribbling. Using long-range kicks, Cambridge crossed the line but were beaten for the touch-down. Then an attempt at goal failed. Waipa recovered with good dribbling again but breaking quickly Dillon forced the Issue for Cambridge and aonther free- ( kick was Just wide, .lust before half- ; ime, the Waipa backs moved smartly jid Newton scored. A few minutes a ter, Teddy added to Waipa’s tally vith a converted try. At half-time he score was B—o in Waipa’s favour. Immediately after resumption, Valpa altaeked and Newton landed a dne field goal. Play degenerated practically into a mud-scramble In the second half. Wattam put on the only Uolnts for Cambridge with a penalty |oal and the match ended with the score: Waipa 12, Cambridge 3. MIDGET MATCH RESULT. The first curtain-raiser, a midget game, resulted In a win for Hamilton High School who defeated Hamilton Technical High School by 3 points to nil.
