NGARUAWAHIA NEWS.

ANGLICAN QUEEN CARNIVAL.

The parishioners of the Ngaruawahia, Horotiu and Te Akau Anglican churches have formed committees to run a queen carnival, the proceeds to augment the funds of their Church. The chosen queens are: Ngaruawahia, Miss E. Raiti; Horotiu, Miss V. Hall; Te Akau, Miss Hume. The Ngaruawahia committee have already held an old-time dance and a bring-and-buy afternoon OLD-TIME DANCE. A most enjoyable old-time dance was held in the Parish Hall, when a large number of dancers was present. Mrs J. T. Holt and Mr E. Kahn played the music and Mr J. Holt was M.G. Among those present were:—Mesdames Guy Marriott, wearing silver grey georgette and fur wrap; Martin, maroon craquelle; E. Clont, black panne velvet; C. Quintal, parma violet satin; J. Birkett, rust silver-threaded crepe; W. McCarthy, electric blue wool lace; E. Gee, coronation blue georgette; A. Potter, black taffetas and violet spray; J. T. Holt, black chiffon velvet; A. Allwill, rose floral georgette. Misses E. Raiti, burgundy velvet; A. Armstrong, cerise panne velvet and while fur; Douglas, black crepe and gold lame; Runoldi, sea green matalasse; D. Kelin, rose satin; Ivnighten, eau de nil tunic suit. BRING-AND-BUY AFTERNOON. The Parish Hall, Ngaruawahia, presented an animated scene on Saturday afternoon when a bring-and-buy afternoon was held. The afternoon proved most successful, both financially and socially. An interlude was provided during the afternoon when .Mrs A. Potter sang, Mrs Gerring being the accompanist. BRIDGE AFTERNOON. Mrs D. R. Welch and Mrs Guy Marriott were hostesses at a most enjoyable bridge afternoon held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Ngaruawahia, the proceeds to augment the Plunket funds. Mrs R. D. Duxfleld was the winner of the highest aggregate score for the month. Among lliose present were:—Mesdames J. D. Joy, G. B. Isdale, R. B. McLaren, R. D. Duxfleld, L. Clochetto, R. McFarlane, 11. D. Sampson, A. Potier, Guy Marriott, 11. Dell, E. Fuller, A. Garry, D. R. Welch. Misses E. Gerrard, E. Saulbrey, I. Gerrard.
