LAUNCH’S PLIGHT.
TOSSED IN HEAVY SEAS. REGUE IMPOSSIBLE. THREE MEN LEFT ABOARD. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. With three men aboard, the launch which left Kennedy’s Bay, Coromandel Peninsula, on Friday night with five men Is tossing In a heavy sea In the Elephant Cove, on the windward side of Happy Jack Island, some miles from the township of Colville. The other two men rowed In a dinghy on Saturday night at the risk of their lives and pulled the launch to the sheltered side of Happy Jack Island and then rowed to Colville and notified the authorities.
The seas are too heavy for resoue launches to leave Colville with provisions for those on board and as far as Is known only a tin of coooa Is left -on the launch. The wind hf)s now changed direction and is blowing -straight Into the cove. The three men left aboard are Mr Harold Bright (22), Jack Bell (18) and Mr Peter Noyer (57). The. two who rowed ashore are the brothers, Wilson and Reginald Bright, aged 16 and 20 respectively. The five men are engaged in farming at, Kennedy’s Bay. Relief will he sent as soon*as possible.
