TRAMP STEAMERS.
MEASURES OF CO-OPERATION. ON A VOLUNTARY BASIS. (omrlal Wireless.) RUGBY, July 25. British owners of tramp steamers have reached a decision to continue on a voluntary basis the measures of co-operation which were originated as a condition of the Government subsidy in 1935. The scheme of co-operation provides for the observance of minimum freight rates, standard forms of charier, and the National Maritime Board’s regulations as to tonnage. The subsidy scheme is still in operation. Iml owing to the improvement in Ihe demand for tonnage and lo higher freight rales it is llkelv that the £2.(100.0dd which has been set aside for Hie present year will not need to be used.
