PARAWERA NATIVE SCHOOL
FAREWELL TO MISS MoLEAN. On Friday afternoon the staff and children of the Parawera Native School gathered in the Assembly Hocm to bid farewell to Miss Hinenauna McLean. The headmaster, Mr Rust, on behalf of the parents, teachers and child•en, expressed his appreciation of the ;ood work Miss McLean had done, md wished her good luck and every success in her studies and the course of training she intended taking up, and also hoped that some day she would return to teach again in her old school. The guest-of-honour aas presented with bouquets by Rau \ore Nepe from the infant room uipils, and by Margaret Godfree on chalf of the older scholars. Miss McLean returned thanks for all the help and kindness she had received from her teachers and school friends, and said she was grateful for the chance that had come her way and would do her best to benefit by her studies and pass on the knowledge obtained for the good of the Maori people. The following programme was given:—lnfants, Maori action songs; Island song and dance, Marie Hau; recitation, Josophene Fitzpatrick; Junior division, Native School chorus song, “Mr Rust”; song, Tiny McLean; recitations, Margaret Godfree, Tiny McLean, Arthur Tana; senior division, school choruses, Maori and Island farewell songs, John Pakeho; recitation, Lucy Nepe, “Te Woa”; Mavis Tai, Allan Heke, Paul Ileke, lloka Nepe, John Ratlma, songs; girls, poi songs; boys, Island songs and hakas.
