MEETING AT MORRINSVILLE. MANY SUBJECTS DISCUSSED. (Special to Times.) MORRINSYILLK, Monday. About 300 Maoris representative o various tribes from all over New Zealand gathered at the Rukumoana P; at Klwltahi, near Morrinsville. recenth to confer with members ol' the National Advisory Council of the Laboui Party. Among those present were Messr? E. L. Cullen, M.P. for Hawke’s Bay A. Campbell, M.P. for Chalmers, 11. T Katana. M.P. for Western Maori, am Hie lion. Rang! Mawhetu, M.L.C. Mi H. Coulter, M.P. for Waikato, was als. present. The conference laated over fl\. hours and the subjects discussed included the Treaty of Waitangl and lb compensation claimed by the Maorifor lands confiscated by the Govern ment after the Maori Wars of la> century, the question of the Drake Maori settlement and ihe rates am taxes on native lands.
