FOG SIGNAL.

INSTALLATION AT WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Saturday. When the Union Company’s interlsland steamer Wahine smashed her bows Into the Pipitea Wharf while nosing her way through a heavy fog in the harbour on June 5, 1936, she created an argument for the ereotion of a fog signal In the .harbour for the guidance of shipping. To-day the general manager of the Harbour Board, Mr A. S. Barnett, stated that it was the board’s intention to erect a temporary fog signal at Point Jernlngham and a suitable type was now being tried out. The signal would be In operation until a more permanent type could be Imported from England to replace it. Although the details of the signal have not yet been definitely decided, It Is understood that it will be of the siren type and will be mounted probably on a pile on the foreshore.
