The Cambridge third grade team, holders of the Cuck-sey Cup successfully defended It yesterday when they defeated Matamata by 17 points to 8. The early stage of the game was in favour of the visitors , but then Cambridge attacked after a series of -scrums. Cornes forced hls way over for Cambridge. The kick failed. Cambridge 3, Matamata 0. Cambridge penned the visitors in their twenty-five and from another close-up scrum, Cameron sent Holme-s over. .The kick failed. Cambridge remained In the visitors’ territory and Cameron scored. Reese converted. At the commencement of the second half Matamata followed up a high return and lloon scored. Nicholls converted. Matamata 5, Cambridge 11. Cambridge retaliated and from a line-out Buckingham -secured to dive over. The kick failed. Cambridge 11, Matamata 5. Soon after this Cambridge were penalised well out and Adams kicked a line goal.
