AN IRONIC COMEDY. ROBERT TAYLOR ANGRY. *\ THREATENS TO HIT POLICEMAN. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright (Received July 24, 11 a.m.) HOLLYWOOD, July 23. Mias Barbara Stanwyck, Mr Robert Taylor, and policemen were the central characters in an ironic comedy at a preview of the picture “SteliA Dallas.” A policeman who was a member of a squad engaged to protect Mis* Stanwyck and other stars in “Stella Dallas" mistook her for an autograph hunter and grasped her arms. Mr Taylor, hearing tearful protests, pushed back and seized the policeman and raised his fist shouting: “I will push you one in the Jaw.*' The onlookers shouted "Sock the cop!” The policeman retreated and bystanders mollified Mr Taylor. Miss Stanwyck and Mr Taylor have been seen in many films in New Zealand, Mr Taylor’s last appearance being opposite Greta Garbo In “Camille.” It was stated some time ago that Miss Stanwyck, who .was formerly the wife’ of Mr Frank Fay, stage star, would marry Mr Taylor. When George Brent, film star, sought a divorce from Constance Worth, film actress, stating that the marriage had not complied with the Mexican law, the wife denied the allegation, stating that the marriage had complied with the law. She said that two friends had been witnesses. Also she and Mr Brent had lived as inan and wife. The couple parted after ten days of married life. Constance Worth is the name which Jocelyn Howarth, an Australian actress. took when she went to Hollywood. She was seen on the New Zealand stage a few years ago In the play, “Ten Minutes Alibi,” and also appeared In Australian films. Mr Brent was formerly married to Ruth Chatterton, film star, frotjj whom he was divorced.
