THE RESERVE BANK
DECREASED NOTE ISSUE. GOVERNMENT DEPOSITS FALL. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Reserve Bank return for the week ended Monday, July 19, was gazetted to-night. The statement is balanced at £31,478,754 or £336,993 more than at the close of the previous week. The Government deposits are £329,012 lower than they were a week previously, while the deposits of the trading banks have increased by £596,058. There has been a fall of £44,160 in the level of the note issue, while other demand liabilities are £97,138 higher. The sterling exchange reserve has increased £492,881 in value, the only other movement of any moment among the assets having been a fall of £123,681 in tlie level of advances to the Dairy Industry Account. The statement with variations compared with the week before is as follows :
