FRUITGROWERS MEET.

LOCAL MARKET GUARANTEE. IMPROVEMENT IN INDUSTRY; (Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Friday. Included in a large number of remits approved by the Auckland provincial conference of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation yesterday was a motion urging the adoption of a minimum guarantee on local market fruit and requesting the Government to give a minimum guarantee on top grades sold through the usual wholesale channels equal to the costs of production plus a return to the grower. It was considered that local market regulations to provide this guarantee should be introduced by the Government. The annual report of the federation stated that during the year there had been some Indications of increasing confidence in the Industry due, no doubt, to the advance in the export guarantee and the setting aside of an amount of £40,000 for the subsidising of realisations for fruit sold on the local market. The following Auckland delegates were appointed for the Dominion conference: —Mr H. L. Beecroft (North Auckland), Mr C. Ballantyne (Hamilton), Mr H. P. Bryan (Tauranga), Messrs J. 9. Lambden, R. A. Meek, G. H. Scott (Auckland). The Auckland advisory board was formed as follows: Messrs W. J. Rodger (chairman), F. Firth, C. Ballantyne, A. B. Gongdon, H. L. Beecroft, B. A. Meek.
