OAR THROUGH FENCE. .\loromsr Loses CONTROL. ; t """" 1 An unusual accident which might. have had serious consequences, occurred in the Grey Street gully, Hamilton East, this morning. when a motnrist. Harold Gites. aged ‘23. a farmer. of \Vath, crashed through a post—und—rail fence. lie received severe facial injuries, including what is heltered to he a fracture of the law. Mr Giles was driving his car northwards along Grey Street and was de—scending the gully of the Hamilton East. school when he apparently lost. uontrol. the two left—hand wheels mounting the footpath. Near the bottom of the hill there is n nost-and—rail fence. several yards long and nearly three feet high. placed at the hack entrance to the Hamilton that school to prevent. children from running on to the road. The fence is turn] \\ith the gutter. and the ear strurk it with the radiator. 'l'he upright post snapped off but. the horizontal ruil slid along the bonnet. crashed through the windscreen. broke the steering wheel off. and caught the molnrisl a passing blow as it. shot. through to the back seat. t It. was fortunate that the motorist had no passengers.
