The Daily Mail states that Viscount .\lonseli has handed his resignation as First Lord of the Admiralty to the Prime Minister. Mr Baldwin. Sir Samuel Moore is expected to succeed Lord .\lonsell. Viscount .\lonseil, who ‘was well known in English politics as Sir Bolton Eyres Alonsell until he was created \‘iséount in December, 1935, has been First Lord of the Admiralty since 1981. He entered the training ship Britannia in 1894’ and went to sea as a midshlp—man two years later. in 1906 he was placed on the emergency list, and in 1911 he became a Unionist \Nhtp. 0n the outbreak of war he returned to the Navy, reaching the rank of com—mander in 1917. tie then became Treasurer of the Royal Household and later a Civil Lord of the Admiralty. From 1923 to 1929,1md again in 1931. he was Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury, and during that time he also occupied the position of chiet’ Conservative Whip.
