£4,000,000 MORE SPENT. GREAT PUBLIC SERVICE. “Every year advertising is establishiug itself more firmly as one of the principal public services," said Mr R. J. Sykes, presiding at the annual dinner of the Institute of Incorporated Practitioners in Advertising, held in London. Other points from his speech were: The great mass of advertising undoubtedly represents the best. of everything in the market both in material and in value. The public are buying advertised articles with in. creasing confidence. In 1931 advertiser: of branded goods spent $13,000,000 in the principal organs of the Press, and in 1935 nearly £17,000,000. Public confidence in the future leads to advertising which in its turn leads to more busi: mess.
