NEW ZEALAND BUTTER.

LONDON MARKET FIRM. NO CHANGE IN PRICES. AUCKLAND, Monday. Advices from London state that the prices for New Zealand butter are unchanged at up to 103 s per cwt. The market is firm but there is less activity. Cheese values are the same at 58s per cwt. for white and 56s for coloured. There is a firm demand. A feature of the market is the narrowing of the margin between Danish and New Zealand prices. There is a difference now of only about 6s, whereas usually Danish has a premium of about 20s. Usually at this time of the year colonial prices improve as shipments are becoming lighter. Forward prices have advanced slightly and sales have been made at 13 l-8d per lb., f.0.b., equal to about 109 s per cwt. London, for June-July shipment. SELLING AGENTS IN ENGLAND. SIR THOMAS WILFORD’S VIEWS. LONDON. May 31. Sir Thomas Wilford, presiding at the first annual meeting of the Vacuum Packed Product, Limited, referred to the Government taking over on August 1 the whole of the butter and cheese produced in New Zealand. As the company consistently obtained premiums of 12s per cwt. on butter and 20s on cheese vacuum-packed, this would surely interest the Government when considering the price obtainable in Britain. It was reasonable to suppose that in the event of the Government making the firm one of its selling agents, a regular adn plentiful supply of produce would be obtainable. Sir Thomas is going to New Zealand in June in the company’s interests. THE IMPROVEMENT CONTINUES. HEADING F'OR HIGHER PRICES. DEMAND FOR NEW ZEALAND. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received June 1. 3 p.m.) LONDON. May 31. The improvement in butter continues. and Tooley Street merchants consider that the market is heading definitely for higher prices. The main activity is concentrated on 'New Zealand descriptions. Australian is rather quiet.
