The question as 'to whether the treatment or honey to take away dark colours and strong flavours should be a matter for the individual beekeeper or for the beekeepers as a body was fully discussed at the annual meeting of the South Auckland branch of the New Zealand Beekeepers' Association yesterday. The chairman. Mr ’l‘. 11. Pearson. considered it was a matter for the beekeepers. He advocated central depots for treating honey for market. Mr P. A. Hillary strongly opposed the piacing~ot the method of treat—ment In private hands. Mr Hillary stated that he had been advocating for years the furthering ot‘ the scheme whereby the beekeepers as a whole would benetit by the method of treatment. lie considered it was time the matter was placed before the Govern—ment. The anthron Institute had carired out investigations with success and were installing a giant. Mr J. Schmidt was of the opinion that the individual was entitled to de—\~clop his own methods or treatment it he could atturd the plant. ll‘ central depots were established transport would increase the cost of the honey. .\ir Schmidt agreed to the proposal for central depots, and a remit to the Dominion Conference advocating the establishment of central depots was carried.
