The Rome correspondent of the Morning Post says the British Government's action in putting a warship at the disposal of Emperor Halli Selassie for his voyage from Haifa to Gibraltar, has made the worst. possible impression in Italian omcial circles. They foresee a danger of a sanctionist rally being promoted by the Emperor‘s presence in England. In that event an atmosphere would be created in which all chances of conciliation between Italy and Britain would be hopelessly lost. Italy is aware that many elements are com—bining to force forward the question of sanctions in readiness for the meeting of the League Council on June 16, and responsible. Italians regret that an already complicated situation should be thus further imperilled. It la offlolally lnulstod that. Italy cannot even dlsouu the question of any settlement, nor will any nail-n lnltatlvo be forthaomlng as long an sanction: remain. According to a message from Gibraltar passages for Haiii Selassie and his party have been booked on the Orient liner Ori‘ord, which will sail for England on Sunday.
