Jones. by the Garden l’iuce llill Preservation Committee when proposals for the site are placed before the Minister in Ham—ilton 10—day was considered at a representative meeting of citizens in the Toorak liail last evening. Mr B. It. Andrews presided. It was pointed out that one or the main objections of the Borough Council to the Old Courthouse property as the site of the new post office was that the foundations were insecure. In rebuttal, several speakers who have been resident in Hamilton for over 50 years claimed that the site was on solid ground and only a small gully at the rear had been tilled some years ago. The following were appointed to meet the Minister as a deputation from the society: Mrs P. Newland and Messrs .l. ’i‘reloar. E. Jones, T. Parker, W. W. Dilllcar, E. Phillips-Turner, 1). Seymour, U. Lafi'erty, B. it. Andrews, P. G. Alisop, B. C. Lowry, J. 11, Glttos, J. ’i‘. Horne and it. Parr.
