BOROUGH councu. MEETS. ‘ (Special to Times.) TE AROHA, Tuesday. ‘ At the May meeting or the Te Aroha Borough Council the Mayor, Mr R. Coulc ter. .\ilP., presided. Also present were Messrs G. Hedge. W. C. Kennedy. V. Hamilton, \V. E_ Smith, H. J. Pease, F. ‘W. Firkin and L. Grice. The Hamilton Borough Council notified that all the local fioilles or the district had agreed ort the heavy trame fees to .\lay at, 1936, on the same basis as last year. The town clerk submitted I copy oi" the Fire Board’s estimates [or the year as fol—iows; General expenses. £459; contributions from insurance Companies, £909; total amount of insurance premiums. £3815. A letter \\‘as read from the Elstow branch .0! the \\'omen‘s Division, stating that in ‘regard to the Crippled Children’s Fund. the branch regretted that owing to activities ‘in other dirertlons. previously arranged. ‘it could not help in the matter of gaining funds. on the same subject the Te. Aronav \\'aitoa branch wrote statimtr all its funds are. allotted to charitable institutions, to the sick and those in straitened circumr stances. The members of the branth hari contributed to the various functions ar—ranged in aid at the fund. Union Theatres. Ltd, wrote objecting in street collectors for various funds usina' the main street. passage or the Majestic Theatre, and placing therein tables and chairs. thus partially blocking up the. entranrexilt was decided to reply that the rompanr hurl power to prevent the use ui' the space by the public. Municipal Buildings.
