SUNSHINI LIAGUI. D. Caro, to-day. “Apparently the public do not realise the great amount of good work done by the league. We receive no subsidy or iunds except what we can raise ourselves and yet we regularly supply fruit, cigarettes and cakes to the initiates of the \Vaikato Hospital. \Ve also supply clothes to the needy mothers and children in the inv stitution and provide entertainments regularly as well as hook-s.” The secretary, Mr 11. Kemp. re—ported thai. the collection yesterday amounted to only at little above £ll compared with over £22 last. year. He also expressed kcen disappointment at the lack of public interest in so worthy a cause. Some of the collectors stated that they have never known it so hard to get money from the public. The majority of the people approached seemed to take the attitude that theruestion was one that. the new Government would settle. They apparently thought that with the present party in power they would no longer be required to‘ donate money for charitable causes. ;
