May 26. :in lives were lost by drowning as I result of a collision ol'f .\ldln'nugh. near Flmnhorouqh Head. on the York— Shire coast. between the 111111 trawler Picador. of 421 tons. and the London I’teamer Sim Salvador, of arms tons, which occurred in a dense fog this morning. The Picador. which was returning Io Hull from the fishing grounds. sank In three minutes. The San Salvador. which was bound for Tyne from South fimerica with a cargo of oil, picked up M of the Picador-‘5 crew of 20. The gun Salvador was damaged and is tak—sin water. She is making for port. I coillory Diluter. It is feared that seven men have been drowned in a colliery disaster in South \Vales. \Vhiie ‘2O men of the day shift were at work to-day in the Loveston pit in Pembrokeshire. which had only recently been re-opened after neverai years. water broke through the roof of the workings. which are 600 feet deep. Thirteen of the men succeeded in lamina their way to safety.
