FALL I-N LAMB SCHEDULE. Beef continues alow of sale, but prices are generally unaltered. Fat sheep met a sharp trade and prloe changes favour vendors. Store sheep met an Improved demand. Baooners are dearer at all centres, but porkers remain slow of sale. The recent fall of id In the lamb schedule will Influence the demand for lambs at the markets and at Fr&nkton yesterday a slight slackening of Interest was apparent. The feature of the markets during the week has been the steady demand for baooners. which have readily commanded prices ranging to 735. Heavy supplies have been forward at all yards, but pig entries are steadily becoming lighter. Following a quiet 1 period, interest has again deepened for store sheep and improved values are reported form the majority of yards. Markets at Home. The climatic conditions of other countries have always had considerable affect on the market for New Zealand butter ami cheese and the present Improved position of the Horne market for the Dominion’s dairying products is reported lo be due to the backward spring being experienced in continental emintrirs. The sustained activity of the butler market is particularly cheering news to tiro Dominion producer who has been heartened by he i .-port, of appreciated values after a i.erind Of felhu |>ricps. —■ l T I Fat Classes Steady. Fat classes of practically all classes 'have been steady at Waikato markets, fat lambs particularly being buoyant of sale. There Is no indication that wethers and ewes will show any im- ; mediate slackening, but lambs may be a shade easier. Ox beef has been dull of sale and the heavier supply at Frank ton yesterday did not improve the position. Cow and heifer beef has been a shade better than the ox, but only prime pens command a ready sale. Baconers, as previously mentioned, have been meeting a sharper trade at substantially improved rates. Porkers, however, have shown no improvement. Values For Jerseys. The successful dispersal of the Pencarrow Jersey Stud was a happy augury for the remaining pedigree fixtures in the Waikato this season. While an improvement was apparent i for pedigrees last season, the demand: for stud stock during the past several years has been comparatively dull when the very satisfactory prices ruling before the depression are taken into consideration. The prices realised at Pencarrow last week were the best j realised In the Waikato for some years I and an average of over the 63 head sold must be accepted as highly! satisfactory. Demand For Dairy Heifers. There has been a disappointing market, for dairy heifers throughout the Waikato so far this season and the i demand has not reached expectations. ! It had been confidently expected that. , \ the demand would be such that record i sales would be‘made in the early part j of the season, but to date purchase; .! figures have not been unusually high, j It Is apparent that a glutted market. I is the primary reason for the restrie-I j tion in the price level for too many! ! sales have been concentrated in the 1 one month and the Immediate pros- 1 . pects cannot be considered to be any j brighter as there is an unusually large number of clearing sales scheduled for June. Pedigree Pig Sales. An outstanding attraction for pedi- • gree pie: breeders next week will be the annual sale next Monday of the i “Mountlcy” ?tud. the property of Mr •j A. T. Rogers, of Ngaruawahia. The . offering this year will comprise 200 i pigs including young sows, sows due l to farrow, young boars and boars for i service Practically the whola of the i ! offering of young Tannvorths are the progeny of “Berkswoll T’p-to-Date sth” imp.'', supreme champion boar of England and claimed to ho the grent- : csl pig ever imported to this country. 1 while six of the sows to be offered are i • in farrow to the great, importation. ! To-morrow at the r.laudelands pig ■! pavilion Iho tenth annual sale of the | -t,. Rap i” Stud, the property of Mr, |H. chileott, will be held. The offer-
ing will comprise 63 pedigree pigs in—cluding Tamworth and Berkshire boars and sows and 25 grade Tam~ 'worth and Devon sows pasturing with a pedigree Tamworth boar. This year's offering, although not as large as previous years. is said to he one 0! the finest selections of Tamworths and Berkshires ever presented {or public auction. Podlgreo Mllklng‘ Shorthorns. ; ’l‘he Claudelands Showgrounds will also be the venue of the annual offering of the “Pinedale” Pedigree Milking Sho'i‘thorn Stud, the property of Messrs G. D. Hall and Sons. of Kio Kio. The offering will somprise 35 entries including ‘2O rising two—year—old in-ralf heifers and if) two—year—old and yearling bulls. it is interesting to note in connection with this sale that two Pinedsle heifers tested this season as Junior two—yeer—olds lboth sueneeded in breaking the existing New Zealand standard with 580.621 b lat and 564.861 b fat respectively. On Friday the annual sale of the “Horotiu" Stud. the property of Mr R. D. Duxfleld, will be held at the home—stead, ‘Horotiu. The offering will comprise 35 heifers and two-year-old and yearling bulls. The owners state the offering is easily the best yet sub—mitted by the stud. 'ln the entry will appear sons and daughters of the wellknown ‘H‘orotlu Heroic 111, Pine Farm Gem IV, and Horotiu Prince VIII. and there can be no doubt that the offer—ing is representative of the very best producing and prize—winnlng‘ strains at “llorotiu.” NOTES AND COMMENTS. Big Money for Yearling. It is a long time Since surh a keen price for a yearling hull was rereivod tn the \Naiknto as that received at. the dispersal sale of the well—known “Pancarrow” Jersey Stud at. the homestead, ’l‘amahcre, last week when the yearling son of Masterman of Pencar—row and Daisy Daydream was bought hy the Strstfnrd breeder, Mr H.
