"flying flea" to fly in New Zealand has been granted a certificate of registration but not, a certificate of airworthiness. The ci\'il aviation branch or the De~ fence Department thus limits the :‘ilea" to fly within three miles of a licensed aerodrome as an experimental aircraft and by licensed pilot only. Wins-Commander T. .\l. Wilkes. Director of Civil Aviation. said yesterday. the department has no intention of granting certificates or airworthiness for these craft. pending further advice !rom Britain. in any case it would he dimculi to arrange compulsory third party insurance. A policy of £SOOO was requii :11 in England. The “flee." is at Auckland and was built by two licensed ground engineers. .\lessrs A. .‘chruer auj n. D. Downey. The machine bears the lettering Z.\l— AAB, the first. of the 2)! group.
