PROVINCIAL CONTEST. FIXTURE AT MORINSVILLE. BIG ENTRY OF COMPETITORS. (Times Special Reporter). MORRINSVILLE. Friday. The Auckland Provincial Clay Bird Championship tournament which was commenced on the Morrinsville Gun Club’s grounds to-day, attracted a large number of competitors from all parts of the province. The fixture, which is arranged at different centres annually, was allotted to Morrinsville this year. Included in the programme were two £25 open handicap matches, while an "eyeopener ” of seven birds was 6hot. Tomorrow the championship of 21 birds at 18 yards will be contested In addition to an " eye-opener ” of seven birds, and a special clay handicap trophy match with optional sweepstake. Several sweepstakes will also be contested after the major events. Bye Opener (7 birds) : The following shot the possible and divided: A. Aitken (Morrinsville), M. Pratt ( Otorohanga), J. McMiken (Hamilton), J. McMullen (Morrinsville), J. Amunsden (Morrinsville), C. Seddon (Hamilton).

£25 Open Handicap (21 birds) : G. Seddon (Hamilton), 17yds, shot 21 and won the shoot outright. The following shot 20 birds and divided second and third money: A. Aitken ■ (Morrinsville), 14yds, W. Tilsley (Morrinsville) 11yds, J. Amunsden (Morrinsville), 12yds, J. McMullen (Morrinsville), 15yds, C. Webber (Morrinsville), 12yds.
