THE DEATH SENTENCE.

* SEQUEL TO A PROTEBT. DEMONSTRATOR FINED £3. United Pres* Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received May 21, 11 a.m.) LONDON, May 20. Madame van Der Elst was fined £3 for failing to stop her car when ordered to do so when demonstrating against the carrying out of a death sentence. The other charges were dismissed.

Counsel for the defence said that Madame van der Elst did not realise the strength of local feeling against Dr. Ruxton’s horrible murders, and had struck a bad patch there in conducting a campaign against capital punishment.
