COMPENSATION AWARDED. CITY COUNCIL LIABLE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. Tiie Arbitration Court to-day heard a claim for compensation by Lily Louisa Weavers against the Wellington City Council with respect to tlie death of her husband while engaged in his work in the milk department of tlie council. It was submitted that lie fell, dead from the combined effects of liis work and a form of heart disease. He had three children, aged ten, six and three respectively and earned £275 a year. Admitting it was not possible for the Corporation successfully to contend it was not liable, Mr O’Shea suggested that the amount awarded should be paid lo the Public. Trustee for him to apportion Hie money to plaintiff and tlie children. Judgment was given accordingly for I lie amount claimed. £IOOO. and costs including fun.M-al and medical expenses
