RAILING STOCK.
LOWER RATES FOR BONIRI. CATTLE FROM \VAIKATO. In response to a request from the New Zealand Farmers' Union. a temporary reduction has been made by the Railways Department in the charges for the conveyance of boner cattle from the Walkato to Westfleld. The rate, which was formerly £22 155 9d, has been brought down to £2 53. Two of the large meat exporting firms are principally affected and the reduction will apply to cattle carried from between Frankton Junction, Claudelnnds, Morrinsville and Taupiri Auckland. Local bodies consider that if the reduction is made perman—ent it will result in the removal of stock from county roads. It is stated that these have suffered considerably since large droves of cattle have been n-sing them en route from the Watlmto to \\v‘estileldi
