TE AKAU FUNCTION.

ANNUAL TENNIS DANCE. On Thursday evening the Te Akau Tennis Club held its annual dance as a wind-up for the season, and to present the cups which were won during the year. There was a good attendance, and a very jolly evening was spent. Excellent music was played by Dave Shaw’s Band, from Huntly. j After supper had been served the president, Mr D. Snodgrass, in speaking on behalf of the tennis members, expressed regret that the season had been so hampered with bad weather. Mr Snodgrass said it had been a financial season and members could only hope for a more suitable playing season next year. He then called upon Mrs McGuire to present the cups to the respective winners. The Armour Cup for ladies’ handicap singles was won by Mrs Evans, ami the Malcolmson Cup for men’s handicap singles by Mr C. Morton. A trophy presented by the late Mr Fenwick for ladies’ singles was won by Mrs T. Gibson. The president then thanked all I hose, present for helping to make the function such a success, and dancing was continued. Among those present were Mesdames McGuire, wearing wine velvet; J. Shaw, ivory silk pebble crepe; Berryman, blush pink satin; Old. Margaret Rose satin; Hodge, black satin. Misses E. Snodgrass, Marina blue i crepe and lame; L. Wintour, angelskin lace; U. Henry, black velvet; L. Hume, huntsman green velvet; G. Phi lb urn, pink silk crepe; E. Brosnaham, lemon net; D. Hailes, red crinkle crepe; T. Manson, white georgette; M. Henry, black satin, bcaute and silver; M. Kel low. green marocain; E. Cox, royal blue satin; J. Fellow, green crepe-de-chine.
