CRUISE SHIP TOURS.
CHEAPER MOTOR FARES. GRANTED BY AUTHORITY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. A decision to permit road motor companies and taxicab companies to carry out at “cut rate” special tours that might be approved from time to time by the proper lioensing authority was made this morning by I lie Central Licensing Authority when 'AJr J W. Clarke, Auckland manager of Ihft Government Tourist Bureau, asked that companies engaged to carry cruise ship passengers bo exempted from tlie standard fares fixed by tho regulations. These tourists did not belong to the luxury class as the tours were of short duration and covered long distances, not competing with private tours. Reduced fares were desirable for officially organised trips. Representatives of all the motor companies concerned supported the request.
Six cruise ships are lo visit New Zealand. I lie first being lhe Orion about. October 28 with 1000 tourists. Then will follow at monthly intervals lhe Stratlmaver. the Orford. the Narkunda, the Orons&y and the sixth steamer in -March.
