King Edward will receive on June 5 a deputation from the Grand Lodge of Freemasons, headed toy the Duke of Connaught, who will present an address. The London Daily Telegraph says that the Duke of Kent’s son, Prince Edward, who was born on October 9, 1935, will be educated at Eton. His name has already been entered. Mr A. W. Ebbett, of Sydney, was a visitor to Hamilton yesterday. Dr. R. S. Shore, of Wellington, Director of the Hospitals Division of the Health Department, is in Hamilton. Mr G. S. Reid, of the Health Department, Wellington, is visiting Hamilton. Mr J. E. Leeson, of MorrTnsville, was amongst the visitors at the luncheon of the Auckland Rotary Club yesterday. Dr. E. Teichelmann, of Hokitika, has been elected president of the New Zealand Alpine Club. Dr. Teichelmann, who is in his 77th. year, is a veteran New Zealand mountaineer. Dr. F. W. Dry, of the Massey Agricultural College, won the Royal Agricultural Society’s prize of 20 guineas for an essay on the “ Problems of Woolgrowing in New Zealand.” Mr 11. L. M. Rulsson, solicitor, was yesterday admitted at Auckland by Mr Justice Lallan as a barrister of the Supreme Court. Captain V. E. K. ‘Barnes and Messrs T. Cram, J. Timmins (Auckland), J. Gordon (Wellington), F. S. Franklin and J. Farquarson (Dannevirke), are at the Midland Hotel. Mr 11. W. Somerville, chief clerk and cashier of the Auckland City Treasury, has been appointed acting-city treasurer during the absence on sick leave of the city treasurer, Mr Andrew Messer. Messrs F. L. Benny (Palmerston North), 11. B. Clarke (Rotorua), W. N. Laws (Wellington), C. 11. Davies, K. Chambers, W. Cavan, R. Campbell, J. McKenzie Wilson, C. E. Stewart and W. E. Griffin (Auckland), are at tne Hamilton Hotel. Mr A. W. Hawley, of Wellington. New Zealand representative of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, will leave by the Niagara on May 26 for England, via Canada and the' United States, returning via Suez in about -seven months. The retirement of Mr J. P. Kenny, secretary of the Napier Harbour Hoard, after 51 years’ service, 38 of them as chief executive officer, was received by the hoard at a meeting yesterday. The agent of the New Zealand University in London lias cabled that Mr F. R. Moldrum, of the chemistry department of the University of Otago, has been selected by the Vice-Chan-cellor of the University of Bristol as the Michael Hiatt Baker scholar. The scholarship is fc*r research work at the University of Bristol and is valued ,al £2OO per annum for two years.
