DEFERRING APPLICATION.
GOVERNMENT LEGISLATION. HOURS FOR DAIRY FACTORIES. REPRESENTATIONS OF COMPANIES. Application of the portion of the Government's labour legislation dealing with the hours worked in dairy factories has been postponed until September 1 according to advice from the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, received by the South Auckland Dairy Association to-day. The reply from the Minister has given effect to the representations of the association that the Government should defer application of the legislation concerning dairy companies, particularly in regard to special hours and additional rates of pay for specified holidays and Saturday afternoons until such time as the dairy companies’ representatives have had the opportunity to state their case before the Arbitration Court.
