THE AUSTRALIAN TEAM. PRAOTIOE WORK IN AMERICA. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. NEW YORK, May 17. The Australian Davis Gup players, A. -K. Quist, V. McGrath and G. Sproule engaged in a light work-out to-day at Germantown, while J. B. Crawford took a day off and visited New York. Among the spectators of the Australians’ practice to-day was Mercer Beasley, the famous coach, whose observation was that the players were preparing their net advances very carefully and showing remarkable speed in covering the net. From developments in the American camp it appears likely that Budge and Mako will be selected to play in the doubles to replace the veteran Davis Cup combination of Allison and Van Ryn. The former beat the latter in three straight sets yesterday.
