OBITUARY.
MRB E. M. GADSBY. The death has occurred at Hamilton, of Mrs Elsie Margaret Gadsby, aged 71 years, wife of Mr William Gadsby, of Te Kuiti. Deceased, who was the fifth daughter of the late Mr George Souter, of Kennethmont, Scotland, came’ to New Zealand about 50 years ago. At different times she lived in the Wanganui, Taranaki and King Country districts, where her husband had'' large farming interests A fine horsewoman, Mrs Gadsby frequently won prizes in the show-ring for riding and driving competitions, while as a rifle shot she showed outstanding ability. Apart from sporting interests she was actively associated with many women’s organisations. A capable musician and a devoted adherent to the Presbyterian Church, she was organist of the church for many years. She leaves two daughters, Mrs A. L. Flux (Te Kuiti) and }lrs H. B. Goddard (Auckland), and one son, Dr. N. B. Gadsby of Aberdeen, Scotland. MR W. J. PAULING. AUCKLAND, Monday. Mr W. J. Pauling, a leading Auckland trades union official, died on Saturday, aged 47. For many years Mr Pauling had been closely connected with Labour circles in the city, being at the time of his death walking delegate of the Auckland Waterside Workers’ Union. He had been president of the union and representative on the Labour Representation Committee and the local branch of the Alliance of Labour. Serving with the Otago Regiment, he had a fine war record, being awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal. About 500 mourners attended the funeral services yesterday afternoon, the Labour Party, the trades unions and the Auckland Returned Soldiers’ Association being well represented. MR A. G. PILKINGTON. AUCKLAND, Monday. The death has occurred of Mr A. G. Pilkington, aged 66, solicitor, of Auckland. He was a foundation and life member of the Auckland branch of the Order of St. John and for some years was president of the King’s College Old Boys’ Association. In his earlier years Mr Pilkington was a keen Rugby player and for some time was honorary secretary to the Auckland Rugby Union. MR FREDERICK J. WILLS. AUCKLAND, Monday. The death has occurred of Mr Frederick James Wills, aged 79, a wellknown settler of the Mangere and Papatoetoe districts. MR W. N. STEPHENSON. NEW PLYMOUTH, Sunday. The death occurred this morning of Mr William Newton Stephenson, architect, and a member of the partnership of Griffiths and Stephenson. He was keenly interested in many sports and was president of the Taranaki Boxing Association. THE REV. J. McCAW. /By Telegrapn.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. The death has occurred at Wellington of the Rev. John McCaw, aged Mr McCaw was born in Dumfriesshire, Scotland, and came to New Zealand with his parents and family in 1880. For 12 years ho was in the building trade in Gore and for 44 years had been in the Presbyterian ministry, curing which time he served at Tuapeka West. Mangaweka, Levin, Upper Hutt, Lyttelton, and Taumarunui. MR J. A. HALLY. DUNEDIN, Saturday. The death has occurred of Mr .101111 A. Hally, brother of Mr P. Hally, conciliation commissioner. Auckland. Mr Hally was a much respected business man in Dunedin and was prominently , associated with, the Catholic Church.
