France is leading England by seven matches to three in an international tennis match on the eve of the French Championships. I-n the singles Boussus beat Perry, 6—-i, 6—B, 6—2, and Destremeau beat Austin, B—6, 6—2. In the doubles Borotra and Bernard beat Wilde and Hare, 6—3, B—6, and Hughes and Tuckey 'beat Legeay and Feret. 6 —2. €—2.
Perry in the third set of his match was ragged and dispirited, and repeatedly netted his backhand strokes. He could not deal with the severely cut returns of Boussus. Destremeau fairly outplayed Austin, sending back fast returns at acute angles.

Perry defeated Destremeau, 6—3, 7—3; Boussus defeated Austin, 7—5, 7—5; BorPtra and Brugnon defeated Hughes and Turkey, • 6—4, 9—7. PeiTy, recovering from his previous defeat, dominated his match. He played at terrific speed, producing unanswerable returns.
Boussus was always ahead. He made' Austin go at top speed and caught him out of position with' his deep drives.
Borotra and Brugnon outvolleyed the Englishmen in the doubles.
