BREEDING OF STOCK.
A SUCCESSFUL EXPERIMENT. TRANSPORT OF FERTILISER. (Times Cable.) LONDON, May 16. The Times states that the Cambridge University School of Agriculture sent a male fertilising fluid from a Suffolk ram in a vacuum flask packed in ice io Poland by air mail, the flight taking 51 hours. Subsequently there was born a ram lamb, half Suffolk and half Polish, vfhlch was aptly named The Airman. There is no doubt of the parentage, and the experiment demonstrates the widening possibilities of the future use of valuable sires for improving tho quality or livestock. The problem of how to maintain the fertility of the fluid for a longer period, allowing transport over reasonable distances, is not solved yet. Transport of fluid has been carried out on a practical scale in Russia, but the Cambridge-Poland experiment is the first exchange between countries.
