WOMEN’S GOLF TITLE.
SECOND QUALIFYING ROUND. LONDON, May 16. The ladies’ golf championship was continued on the Southport course. There were 140 competitors. In the second qualifying round today Miss Bridgett Newell (Derbyshire), led the Held with a women’s record of 74 and an aggregate of 152. She was followed by Miss Wanda Morgan, 70; Mrs Walker, 77; Miss Jessie Anderson, 77, making all their aggregates 154. The nearest scores of other leaders included: —Mrs GoldthwaHo 81, aggregate, 156; Miss Fish wick, 81 and 137; Mrs Vare, 8u and 157. Qualifiers needed 174 or better. Mrs Waddell did not return a cardHer score was approximately 88. She Had ordered a new set of clubs, which were 100 light, however.. Accordingly, she played with her husband’s clubs, which were 100 heavy and Loo long. All Hie Americans qualified among I lie O i who will take part in match play on Monday.
