The English County cricket competitions were continued, with the following results: — Essex v. Middlesex.— Essex: First innings, 213; second innings 193 (Robins took 5 wickets for 40 runs). Middlesex: First innings, 183; seebnd Innings, 176 (Stephenson took five wickets for 53). Essex won my 47 runs. Hampshire v. Surrey.—Hampshire: First innings, 267 (Gover took six wickets for 51); second innings, 8 for 309 (Creese not out 94). Surrey: First innings, 593 for nine wickets declared (Holmes not out 171, Barling 91, Fishlock 89). Surrey won on the first innings. Lancashire v. Leicester. —Lancashire: First Innings, 290; second Innings, 219 for eight wickets. Leicester, first Innings, 405 for nine wickets declared (Geary 62). Leicester won on the first innings. Derby v. Kent.— Derby: First innings, 119 (Freeman took seven wickets for 29); second innings, 99 (Wright took five wiokets for 31. Kent: First innings, 179 (Copson took five wickets for 57); second innings 42 for no wickets. Kent won by ten wickets.
Sussex v. Glamorgan.—Sussex: First Innings, 291 (James Langridge 76); second Innings, 137 (Reed took five wickets for 30). Glamorgan: First Innings, 289 (E. Davies, 130; James Langridge took five wickets for 51); second, 36 for one wicket. Sussex won on the first innings. Oxford v. Yorkshire.—Oxford; First innings 150 (Verity took 8 wickets for 56) ; second Innings, 166 (Verity took seven wickets for 73). Yorkshire: First innings, 356 (Leyland 141). Yorkshire won by an innings and 40 runs. Cambrldgfe v. Warwick.—Cambridge: First innings, 243; second innings, 199. Warwick: First innings 43 (Jehangir Khan took six wickets for 11 runs; second 119 (Wooller took seven wickets for 20). Cambridge won by 287 runs. INDIA v. NORTHAMPTON. THE MATCH DRAWN. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received May 16, 11 a.m.) LONDON, May 15. Northampton, in their first innings, made 242 runs. Amar Singh took four wickets for 52 runs. Following on they lost -one wicket for 275 runs—Allen 90, Grimshaw not out 73, Bakewell not out 100. The match was drawn.
